The 61st Annual Central California Championships was a huge success, after two years of declining entries we were way up this year. Despite the rain our crew of volunteers did an amazing job of keeping the tournament on schedule. We run the best tournament in Southern California, we give t-shirts, a spaghetti dinner, silver platters and have chair umpires. We have entrants that have entered every year from the time they were in the 10-and-unders to when the graduate from their last year of the 18′s. It’s a special tournament and very unique with our singles, doubles, and mixed doubles format.

For those of you that don’t now, we are one of the few Clubs in the United States that is member owned, have had over 150 National titles, had the namesake of the National Tennis Center (Billie Jean King), and the U.S Open’s main stadium’s name- sake (Arthur Ashe) play on our hallowed grounds and win. If you came out and watched the tournament, you may have witnessed the beginning of a promising career.

There is one more small fry session starting April 14th and one more session of group lessons starting April 16th, the first session was rained out. Call the Sports Shop to sign up, 325-8652.
